There is a need for sustainable alternative materials to create housing and functional casings for consumer electronics.

Wicked Toys - A series of premium Bluetooth audio speakers designed keeping sustainability in mind. Using cork and plant based cast epoxy to make the acoustic speaker enclosure, while it flaunts a induction based wireless charging architecture.

There has been a significant rise in sales of Bluetooth speakers in USA from 2013-2017 by almost 13 million units.

A Bluetooth speaker is portable battery powered audio amplification device. The most basic devices consists of -

• A speaker housing almost exclusively made of general purpose petroleum based plastics.

• A magnetic speaker driver with paper or plastic cone.

• A motherboard circuit that controls the Bluetooth device, audio amplification and battery charging system, its usually constructed of an epoxy based laminated copper clad board with several silicone based electronic parts.

Through the Digital Consumer Survey 2016 it can be deducted that inhabitant of developed nations have the highest amount of e-waste generators.

Electronic Waste is obsolete or broken technological appliances which cannot be re-used, e waste consists of non-biodegradable thermo-setting plastics and electronic components mainly based on silicone. The appliances enclosure usually made with general purpose plastic.

Individuals dwelling in developing nations where technological appliances are sparsely available generates lower amount of e-waste.The forecast for the year 2025 shows increase in the waste generation in first world countries.

This clearly indicates a need for use of sustainable materials for creating electronic appliances.
